Aldea do Portomartiño is a small village in the countryside, on the top hills of de Suido Mountains to 670 m. altitude. The cottages were restored and equipped with high quality solar panels in an attempt to save energy by providing its own source of water and electricity. The houses are furnished for 2 or 9 persons.

ALDEA DO PORTOMARTIÑO has been rehabilitated with a concept of ecotourism, to enjoy the contact with nature and discover the landscape of the Serra do Suido and Serra do Cando, which is part of RED NATURA 2000. Located along the river Xesta, in the unique landscape of "Carballeira of Xesta", the largest Atlantic forest in the interior of Pontevedra.

The houses are located in a beautiful environment which is ideal for cycling or hiking, and horse riding is also available nearby. A lovely area for exploring beautiful landscapes and the green Galicia.  Fishing : The  fishing reserve, 5 km away in Ponte Verduxo, excellent for trout fishing , in the Verduxo river, which is open most of the year.

Routes by car:

- Castle of Soutomaior, a fine example of walled and fortified mansion, converted in the last few years for use as a cultural venue. The castle is at it most impressive when viewed from beyond its walls and its location, at the top of a steep slope, must have made its invasion a daunting prospect for any would be attackers. Views from both the battlements atop the walls and also some balcony areas in the main building are spectacular. From these points can be seen some of the surrounding villages as well as a mirador (viewing platform) on one of the adjacent mountain tops.

- The lake at Fornelos de Montes (available facilities and equipment to practice canoeing) after Ponte Caldelas. There is a river beach en route

- Mondaríz Balneario where you can find  the Great Hotel, building in 1893, considered one of the best in the world of it class; springs with mineral-medicinal water are used as drinking water; the Balneario de Mondariz Golf Course; and near you can find another river beach.

-From Vigo you can take a short boat trip to the fabulous Islas de Cies. The Islas Cíes, or Islands of the Gods as they were known in Roman times, are a natural paradise for the birds that nest along the cliffs and the wide variety of species that live there. The only way to get to the islands is by the passenger boat service (which leaves from Vigo, Cangas and Baiona) in the summer months and at Easter, weather permitting.

-Pontevedra: the city is  connected to the AP9 highway, which goes through Galicia from north to south, 30 km from Vigo airport and 60 km from Santiago.
A walk is a suggestion to enjoy the beauty of the old Monumental Pontevedra with XVI century noble houses and places with a great historic tradition: Leña (firewood) square and Verdura (vegetables) square, whose names refer to the products that were sold in these squares.

We must visit to the Pontevedra Museum, one of the best museums in Galicia for its richness and diversity. There we can find pieces and documents from prehistory to the present.

I
n the area of TERRAS DE PONTEVEDRA  we could say that by the abundant deposits of prehistory is the center of the megalith of Galicia, and where you can find various proposals for routes and visits to archaeological sets as in the Area Arqueolóxica de Tourón (Pontecaldelas), Cotabade or Campolameiro.
For culture and arqueology lovers there is plenty to see and experience on the TERRAS DE PONTEVEDRA
